One to One Child and Youth Worker

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Assists with activities of daily living
  • Participating in resident assessments
  • Preparing internal reports
  • Counseling residents individually and/or in a group setting
  • Carrying out regular, planned programs and activities
  • Providing educational support services as necessary
  • Monitors interaction between individual residents and intervene if issues arise
  • Teaching social and life skills through interaction and modeling
  • Completing logs and incident reports as required
  • Administer medications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES :

  • The successful candidate will have completed a College/University program in human services or a related field
  • Familiar with Autism spectrum disorders and other developmental delays
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • At least 1 year children/youth experience in a residential treatment (group home) setting for children and young adults with emotional, physical, social, behavioural challenges and/or dual diagnosed youths
  • The candidate must be able to utilize excellent decision making skills and be able to effectively solve problems
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong ability to build productive and supportive relationships with staff and residents

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Education:  Bachelor’s, College diploma or certificate
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year of experience working in a group home
  • Requirements: G-Class Driver’s License, First Aid certification and Non -Violent Crisis Intervention training.

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $18.04 /hour
